Smash Burger Palooza

Introduction

This is simply a way to keep track of all the burger spots I've eaten at and how I enjoyed them, May add more blog posts relating to other food spots, but I enjoy burgers the most, and thus I will be focusing on them first.

Burgers Park

11/10, S-tier

This shit right here is the best spot no kizzy, the vibes of their spot, as well as the quality and taste of their smash burgers, poutine, sweet potato fries, regular fries, honestly everything they have is fire (I haven't had their hot dogs though). My usual order (if its a weekend) is 2 parks burgers (sometimes I will get a spicy chi'kn instead of one of the burgers, or if I am feeling extra hungry, get 2 burgers and a chicken sandwich) and a poutine. If it is not a weekend, they do not have poutine, in which case I get sweet potato fries and sub the curry ketchup with their fry sauce. And always no tomatoes on the burgers. The burgers have this amazing sauce, I can only describe as god's cum devine, I do not know how they make it, but its fucking delicious. The bun is also perfect for the sanwich and is nice and pillowey. The sauteed onions are also an awesome touch. Their chicken sandwich is also amazing, it has a nice kick but not so much that you will shit like a faucet the next day. And just like the dijonaise sauce they use on the burgers, the candied chipotle mayo can only be described as aphrodite's vaginal discharge  devine. Their poutine is also super amazing because they do not skimp out on the gravy and cheese (although when it comes to cheesage, rudys is best). Also somehow, despite being drowned in gravy, the fries do not get soggy, a scientific breakthrough worthy of a nobel prize for sure. But yeah, all in all this spot is fucking gas and anyone that says otherwise can eat my ass is entitled to their own opinion (even if its wrong).

Unfortunately though on our burger palooza tour, they said that wait times would be 45 mins when we got their, so we decided to go a few days after.

JABS (Just Another Burger Spot)

10/10, S-tier

JABS is definitely a hidden gem just like Burger's Park, and frankly the only contender to them. JABS is in a solid location, however they unfortunately are not open too late into the night. Now that we have got the minor bad points out of the way, their burgers are fucking amazing. They contend with Burger's Park in every way, except the sauce (read the description on that above if you haven't already, I would definitely fuck that sauce if it was fuckable). However, that is not to say their onion jam isn't absolutely devine, if Burger's Park is an aphrodite, JABS would be Aphrodite without make up, still extremely beautiful, just not at her peak (per se). The smash technique itself is infact better than parks, they get the burger smashed extremely thin, so you get more crispy bits when you eat, and the cheesage is solid too. If I were a mad scientist and wanted to create the perfect smash burger, I'd take everything that JABS does, and simply just replace the sauce with the sauce used at Burger's Park.

Rudy's

8.5-9/10, A-tier

Rudy's has some sick locations, with awesome vibes, infact my only IG photo was taken at rudys beacause it has this awesome view of the CN tower near it. Their burgers are amazing, although not as good as parks, and although you can add bacon, I prefer without.. My usual is the Rudy with no tomato and a poutine, sometimes I will add a Rude Dude (same as the Rudy but with double patty). The sauce they use is awesome, and they use a really good amount of cheese on their burger, which I appreciate. But  I think out of most smash burger spots we have gone to, these guys have one of the best poutines, somedays I would even put it above burgers park. The reason I love their poutine so much is because they do not skimp on the cheese curds and gravy, there were times where I got to the end of the poutine and had only cheese curds left (meaning there was an equal amount of fries and cheese WHATTTTTT). The only reason they are not at S-tier is because they are not at park's level, and its not that they are not good, its that parks is better. Kinda like lebron and the rest of his team mates, or Gol D Roger and like literally the rest of the one piece verse (despite his devestating loss to Deadly D. Isease).

Matt's Burger Labs

8.5-9/10, A-tier

This spots got a solid burger, I have eaten the "Bacon Onion Ring Smash", and although it is not as good as Burger's Park, it is definitely on par with Rudy's. I'd consider them far more "decadent" and "frivolous" in a good way since the added onion rings, hot sauce, and bacon is a welcomed touch to the burger. Generally I'm a simple just onions, sauce and cheese on a burger kinda guy, but Matt's does the extreme quite well. They have some solid options for sides as well, although personally the onion rings are my favorite. Their poutine was good, but Rudy's still has the best poutine on this list. The best part about this spot is they are open well into the night at 3 a.m. on weekends and 2 a.m. on weekdays, so a super solid choice when you've had a few soju's in you.

Extra Burgers

7.5-8/10, B-A tier

Extra burgers is a good example of how a smash burger should be. They also got some amazing fucking napkins. The vibe of their spot is also amazing, would be a sick date spot for sure, because they serve drinks as well. Their smash burger was good, although not as good as Rudy's and Burgers Park (Ill call it Park's going forward). Their Bowling Ally fries were also pretty good, although we were too full to finish the ones we ordered. So basically, 10/10 napkins and vibes, but the burgers and fries are like a 7-7.5/10.

Burgers Drop

7-7.5/10, B tier

Burgers drop is super well known in toronto, and I think its the most followed burger spot in toronto on instagram. Their burgers were good, but compared to Rudy's and Burgers Park it is not as good. Although, to be fair, I only tried their original, and none of their special burgers (perhaps if I tried one of thier special burgers I would have a different take). What I did love from them though is thier chilli fries. It was super good and I could eat boxes of that stuff (that first time I went I even contemplated getting another one after finishing my first one, but I was too full), their chilli fries are easily a 9-10/10. I would also advise you get extra sauce. So essentially, their burgers are a solid 7/10, but their chilli fries bring them up to a 7.5.

Matty's Pattys

7-7.5/10

Matty's patties I had high hopes for and it did not dissapoint.. I love Matty Matheson on TV and his smash burgers are good, just a little small for the price LOL. If the smash burgers were bigger for the same price I probably would put them at a 8. But that being said, the best thing they had was their chilli fries. They loaded that motherfucker with a mountain of cheese and chilli and it tasted amazing, and I'd say their chilly fries are a 10/10.
